The shoulder rank (or epaulette) is worn on the top of the shoulder, usually slipped through a loop or fixed by button and velcro. It signals rank most visibly. Typical format: 60 × 100 mm.
The collar tab is worn on the collar lapel, more discreet but regulatory in some corps. Typical format: 35 × 70 mm.
